Once again this year the Touchdown Club of Houston will be presenting the Houston Touchdown Club Sportsmanship Award to the high school exhibiting the best overall sportsmanship during the 2011 football season. The awards dinner will take place at the JW Marriott on Westheimer and Sage at a noon luncheon on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. In order to help the Touchdown Club determine which high school should receive this award, you are being asked to once again, complete the enclosed postcards after each varsity game. The scoring system has changed somewhat with a rating of 1-5 with 5 being the highest rating. Please complete and mail the postcards as soon as possible after each game your crew officiates. Your ratings are confidential and will be tabulated by the independent firm of Statesman Corporate Finance. You will notice that the cards are sequentially numbered this year only for the purpose of tabulating the participation of the officiating crews. So please, appoint someone on your crew to be responsible for mailing these cards in weekly. We would like to get 100% participation from all of the Houston Chapter crew chiefs on the return of the sportsmanship postcards. (Last year we only had about 70%) On out of town UIL games you do not need to turn in a card as these schools are not normally in our group of schools that we officiate. If you have any doubt simply turn in the cards provided.
This year again there will be a 4A and 5A winner along with a 3A and lower classification winner. Turning in all of your cards ensures that the final tabulation will be fair and that the schools with the best sportsmanship will win.
If you have any questions or need more cards, please contact me at home 281-890-0840 or on my cell phone at 713-818-4485 as I am the liaison for the Touchdown Club on this project. If you would like to join the Houston Touchdown Club please go to “www.touchdownclub.org” for more information. Thanks again for your cooperation and have a great football officiating season.
Thanks,
Mark Ideus
